TESTING ONE TWO THREE

In the book Atlas Shrugged Hank is portrayed as a dualist. A dualist is someone who believes that the mind and the body are two separate entities. When thinking about the women he had sex with including his wife Lillian, Hank came to believe the doctrine that this desire was wholly physical, a desire, not of consciousness, but of matter, and he rebelled against the thought that his flesh could be free to choose and that its choice was impervious to the will of his mind. The mind is a supernatural element and the body is viewed as evil. The mind is believed to be the essential aspect to your existence. Their main view is that you cannot live without your mind/soul but you can live without your body. People are able to hurt your body but they are not able to hurt your mind. Your mind is your own, and only yours alone. To believe this way has caused Hank Readen a lot of grief and havoc in his life.
